Which is less conspicuous? A covered car or an Evo?

Default Which is less conspicuous? A covered car or an Evo?

My neighborhood isn't the worst, but it isn't the nicest either--and I don't have a garage. Do you think a car under a cover would attract less attention than an Evo VIII, on the "out of sight, out of mind" theory? Or would those who intend ill assume it's an even better target than an evo, since most people with car covers are trying to protect some kind of classic or beaucoup-buck luxury car?

it wouldnt attract enough attention like an evo. BUT if their was even a car cover on it, a theif will probably still know the body shape of an evo. know what i mean?

what i would do is buy a cheap carport and 'modify' it to make it a ghetto garage.

Garage modding, great idea. An even better idea is to build some DIY automated security systems into the thing, like infrared tracking paintball guns and a spinning tesla coil grounded to a copper ring around the car--a real "Monster Garage"
...but my roommates, who own the house, have dibs on the driveway so I'd have to move to do the carport idea :\

get a good alarm, or a vtak badge, or a removable steering wheel. DUH, or if not a removable, just buy that lojack steering wheel bar or w/e it is (i know they don't work well!) just to deter even more

and if you get a new alarm, don't put the stickers on the windows because then the theif knows what he is up against

Actually, Honda Civic badges on an Evo VIII would be pretty funny.

Actually, it's a terrible idea.

Just bask in the fact that you don't drive a honda and that most theives pass by your car without much more of a thought of "that car is nice, Oh shit son, another civic SI!!! Pull over ni**a!".

Basic stuff will keep you safe:

Park close to the house. Put on a NICE alarm (PM notladstyle if you want alarm services done, he does good work for inexpensive) in your car with shock sensing abilities. Get a killswitch if you really feel they might steal it.
Work on preventative measures: Don't blast your stereo through the neighborhood as you pull up your driveway, all it does is make your neighbors resent you AND let them know "HEY, I HAVE MONEY IN THIS CAR, COME GET IT!". Don't go blasting your BOV around. Sure, knowledgeable people would know due to the bodystyle and badges it's an Evo, but if you are inconspicuous about it, most people would just pass it off as a slightly modded Lancer, hardly worth breaking in for.
Make sure that whenever you're heading to a friend's place/neighborhood, especially one you're not familiar with, that you park very close to his place within hearing distance of the alarm or the radio signal for a 2way pager....or just hitch a ride with another friend (who doesn't own a honda, so at least you won't get stranded at the other friend's place when it gets stolen for the 4th time).

Not much else you can do. Be nice? Some people steal stuff from and wreck other people's cars just because they're dicks, and you may have been rude to them at one point in time.

Oh, best one yet:

Spend 600 bucks on a Decoy honda shell and rig it full of security equipment or explosives.

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.
