Default Lifetime Powertrain Warranty

Seems like everyone is doing it, including Toyota and Dodge.
Umm, but there's got to be a catch to it to void it. What is it?

it's non transferable. the average person gets a new car every 3-5 years. that means it's likely minus maintenance and a few bad apples here and there, most dealers won't be doing crazy warranty work, and once the car gets traded in, boom. no more warranty. by the time the 2nd owner gets it, it will likely have under 100k miles, but it will be in prime territory for things to start messing up, esp if it's a dodge

also likely to be stricter against modification too.

this is exactly what happens. i was just going to explain this but he took care of it for me. if you have the money to buy a new car chances are your not going to keep it more than a few years. by that time you trade it in and warrenty is over. so its easy to throw the term "lifetime warrenty" around.

You guys are all wrong... The problem with this is it fixes POWERTRAIN.. your engine and your tranny

What it DOES NOT cover is electrical. Now we all know these cars have a lot of computers and that is what usually screws up on the cars now a days and that is where they get you.

The powertrain will last you A LOT longer than your electrical components. And also you need to bring the vehicle in every 6 months and be serviced by them I believe also which means $$

if you've ever owned a dodge, you'll know that powertrains on them fail like light bulbs. some last, some dont.

their transmissions leave much to be desired, unless you sell your left nut to get the beefy ones from john deere or whatever they are using now lol.

toyota was able to do the lifetime warranty because for the most part, their cars hold up fine and won't need alot of crazy service items.

thing is, most dealers will tell you that they make MORE money off warranty work anyways. not that the customer actually pays more, but the dealer gets reimbursed more for warranty work, so to them, its a good thing.

it doesn't matter what goes out. power train or bumper to bumper it doesn't matter they aren't going to have to fix any of it because the general people that buy brand new cars only keep them for a couple years. so, within that couple years the chances of something major happening with power train is very slim. thats the point we are trying to get across here.

and yes dodge transmissions are very bad about going out. my friend at work is now his 7th one. thats just one of the many people i know not counting the ones i have had to replace. it could take up this whole page.

I'm gonna stop by my Toyo dealer and ask a salesguy.
I'm planning to keep my truck for a very long time.
