Hondaland is smoking the good stuff
The difference here is the people that want those old classic cars can afford them.

+1. If there is no demand for it, the price will not increase. This is a pretty small segment car. Are there buyers for it, yeah. But that goes for any product made (some people bought the pontiac aztec didn't they?). Also IMO the price for this car is too much for the demographic they are trying to hit.
Lets look at the TypeR Intergra. The amount of people that still lust after these cars has dropped off dramatically. Are they rare, yes. Are they worth collecting, in the wide scheme of things no. Collectibles are based off what the majority of people think. Ask 100 people above 30 if they have ever heard of Mugen and then ask the same people if they've heard of Shelby. Typically people who can afford collectible cars are older well off people. I don't see too many young people bidding on six figures cars when i watch barret jackson.
Also yes they do give you expensive mugen parts. But lets add up all the parts they replace, do they give you a credit back on the stock wheels, suspension, etc etc that are not being used on the car? Absolutly not, so the actual increase in msrp is a bit more than 8k in my eyes.
