Problem with car's title, need help

I bought a car several years ago from someone. Their end of the title was signed, although since the car wasn't running I never bothered to get it registered...and guess what? The title dissapeared. Now, unless I find this title, what, exactly can I do? I don't know how to reach the person who signed off on the title anymore, but it was a legit cash sale, I've had the car for 3 years and it has never been reported stolen.

Who do I contact about this?

While I do not know the exact procedure, I would call the tag office and ask. 813-635-5200
