Hey guys, need a little help.

My car is standalone ecu'ed, haltech specifically, and ive got a map to upload onto it because my timing is way wrong.

Problem is my laptop that has a serial port is fried, im going to buy a new one but i have to save up some money first. The laptop i have doesnt have a serial port and an OBD->USB converter doesnt work either.

If anybody can drive to my house and let me use their laptop (serial port equiped) for less than a half hour I'd really really appreciate it.

I'll reimburse you for the gas too!

I live in holiday (around the 19 & darlington intersection) so if anybody is willing to help please please shoot me a pm.

Have you tried a USB 2 DB9 converter? I have one here that I use on all of the standalones with no issues. Just make sure you turn down the baud rate to around 9600

woops, i said OBD->USB i meant Serial (DB9)->USB.

I plugged it in and it didnt recognize it, i didnt know how to turn down the baud rate.

Well since i thought it didnt work i didnt bring the converter with me in the move, i suppose i could have it shipped if i knew it worked.

Are you in tampa itself or in a suburb? maybe we could meet up and i could try your converter out.

Some converters work and some don't...I've got mine to work on every thing so far

 

How about we could meet half way? Like at a closer store or gas station? I don't want to drive it too far with the timing being messed up.

I could give you gas money for making the trip.
