I actually have played with the gas just to make sure it was responsive before I bought it and it's plenty reactive.

I guess it really has to do with the car make/model.
you should see the throttle charts for the disi 2.3t, i was looking at them for the MS3 i want. punch the gas pedal all the way down, and it the TB opens like 50% til about 3K or something, to help spool up the turbo, then it opens alot more (don't know if it ever actually opens to 100% or not). after about ~5600rpm, it closes down to like 75% or something stupid...not sure why. some of the EMS's out there can solve some of it, but i dont think any of the normal ECU flashes can take care of it.

i hate DBW.

i dont mind electric assisted PS, since you still have a traditional rack. i have yet to drive a fully electric steered car, so i cant say, but im sure its not the best for enthusiasts.

From the way you state it, it sounds like you've got a PS2 steering wheel on the dash with nothing but wires coming out.

And just to add to the e-throttle debate, the one in my tC is absolutely disgusting. I can literally blip the throttle to the floor and back before the rpms even think about moving. It plays havoc with rev matching.
Yeah, it is electric assist, there is still a shaft connected to the tack - but that assistance is unwanted - it eleminates all and any feedback I'd hope to get from the steering wheel. The wheel should not turn the same way at 90MPH as it does at 5MPH. The rest of the DBW is unwanted as well, of course. It makes if more comfy, but again...less actual feedback = bad. Hell, my buick gives me more feedback than this - and my Buick rides like a boat on smooth water.

This is definatly a 'hate the car'. Its an 08 Shevy Malibu, by the way. The 4-cyl model, it must be.

no surprise or coincidence, the DBW cars I drove and hated were in fact american or german. The Hondas I've driven were seemless

the S is regulated, i guess you could call it

its easier at lower speeds, and more resistant at higher speeds

Nothing will ever be more direct or precise as a throttle cable. Its just not possible

The advantage of electronically assisted steering is that no power steering pump = less load on the engine and belts, so more power and fuel mileage. All Z4s have it (except for the MZ4s, they still have hydraulic systems) and they've actually been failing alot lately, where the whole rack gets replaced. As far as feel, its not quite the same as a hydraulic, which I prefer, but pretty much none of the newer cars I've driven have anything as specific and precise as say, my old 86 Corolla, which for some reason felt a bit better than my Miata.

Yeah, the ECU doesn't let you go full throttle to protect the engine from itself... It's a little gay, but for people like me, who would rather sacrifice a little power for my engine's reliability, I don't mind it. The throttle doesn't open up past 75% ever, but it doesn't close down at 5.6k either, the engine's powerband just pretty much falls off a hill at around that point, but it makes massive power in the 3k-5.5k range. I believe I read that the throttle physically can't open more than 80%? But I haven't read into that shit for quite a few months now, I might check the forums (my mazda6 forums) and post the thread that went deeper into the whole thing.

And trust me when I say my old cable throttle was nonresponsive as shit. I have blipped the throttle in pulses in my baby and she's been pretty damn responsive as far as I can tell so no complaints here.

And I'd have to def +1 on the MS3. Only thing I don't like about it is the FWD, otherwise one awesome ass car. Go for it.

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.

Well then you had one of them there worn out springs or something. There is nothing more responsive than a mechanical throttle cable in proper working order.
