Nope most of us just remove them completely. Get that restrictive cat out of there. Well i took out all 3 of my cats, But just to keep from getting flammed I reinstalled them when i went back to stock. =) Seriously tho its a few bolts grab a socket set and take it off. Get your drill out and go to town on it. an hour latter your all gutted and reinstalled.

do it yourself, pull it out. Get a piece of flex exhaust tubing from any auto-parts store. Then put it in with 2 exhaust clamps... Problem solved.

Like said before, taking it off is ridiculously easy and should take you less time than the drive/wait at a shop.

+1 from experience any licensed shop getting caught diasbling any part of polution control faces up to $15,000 worth of fines.... Gut it yourself, and put it back on.. you will drive around for days trying to find someone to do it.

best info yet on here . take it off , spend 10 minutes breaking the stuff out, and throw it back on . saved yourself alot of money and you know its not going to be some shitty leaking flex pipe that you put in its place .

For the record, all cars come standard with an 8 year emissions warranty, so you can get them replaced for free I'm pretty sure. Nobody knows about it, plus most cars 8 years and newer dont have restrictive cats. In fact most cats are restrictive only because of buildup over the years
