Doesn't matter what B-series you go with, you'll be lucky to get well into the 14s with bolt ons.

if money is no object, chop an S10 frame, and fab a CRX body to it, and be on your way. then you have a whole slew of possible V8's you could put in it. I would recommend maybe a 502 or possibly a 555, and run a couple T70's....should be able to make 1100-1300 on pump gas and not have to spin more then 5500-6000rpm. of course, you'd need to revamp that leaf spring suspension though.

if you want to utilize a whole CRX unibody, you'll need to push the firewall back 5-6 inches for a 350/400SBC. fab up some mounts, chopping the tranny tunnel isnt hard at all, and just fab up an IRS in the rear, or back half the car and go with a laddar bar suspension setup, only problem with that could be the potential length, or lack thereof, of the driveshaft.. It's not as hard as people want you to think it is, it is just time consuming and for most people seems like a huge project when it really isnt.

I guess money isn't an object as long as he keeps a rinky dink 4-cyl that will never see below 12s in the car.
