Title to a car??

Default Title to a car??

Ok so i bought a car yesterday from a private owner. He signed the title in the seller line and i signed my name in the purchaser line. Well onw i really dont want the car so do i have to go to the dmv and still get the title in my name and just wait till i get the new title in the mail to sell the car??or can i sell the car even though i have my name signed in the purchaser line??

there use to be a form that you could get that said that you never took possesion of the car but I believe the seller has to fill it out. Fl wants to make sure it collects all of its taxes

It's illegal to jump titles. And with you signing the title, there is no way to get around this. And if you deface the title by trying to 'erase' your name, affidavites would be required to transfer the title.

so i guess i have to go to the dmv put the car in my name and then wait till i get the new one in snail mail and then be able to sell it...

no, for an extra 10.00 you get it right away if you want. They should now always ask.

no u dont, me and a friend of mine have did this 2 times, just get a bill of sale for the new purchaser and u should be good to go, I'm sure Nick will post in here soon

The problem is that he already signed title as the purchaser. There will be problems when the signature on the title doesn't match the guy looking for a title in his name. If he had not signed the title, you are correct and this wouldn't be a problem.

nope, like i said, just have a bill of sale, i have signed both the titles in the purchaser place and never got them registered and then gave them to nick and he has got them registered in his name
