Car smoking due to dirty muffler...!?
I just welded on an aftermarket muffler to my car about 2 weeks ago, now the muffler what used and very very black on the inside, now when the car sits for a few mins, and I hit the gas, a crap of white odd smelling smoke comes out, it never did it before the muffler, is there a way i can clean the muffler or something? and i know its not the motor its in great shape with low miles.
White smoke usually indicates burning oil or coolant. I doubt that there is anything in the muffler that would cause white smoke.

just a thought but maybe since you got the new muffler you have been beating the piss out of the car and hurt the motor. white smoke is usually a head gasket, and I have never heard of a dirty muffler except on the outside.
well it only smokes when its been sitting for a while, and then smokes when i take off. but it doesnt smell like oil or coolant, it smells like metal or something, weird. and trust me i drive the car the same, lol its slow, and when i let the car sit for like 5 mins or so, and look and the muffler tip its all wet on the inside, like a cold soda can in the summer, lol.
what gets me is it only does it when it sits for a few, and it doesnt smell like oild is leaking, and it happened right after the muffler was put on

what would help is:
what car make/model/year
color of smoke (more detailed)
What could have been was that you've had this problem for a while and when you put on the A.M. Exhaust, it doesn't filter/burn the rest of those visible gasses and that's why you notice it more.

A little moisture, condensation is a byproduct of combustion so no need to worry about that.White smoke,as its been said before,is coolant getting into the combustion chamber. Its probably your headgasket.

its a honda civic what else is slow with a muffler, well m muffler is low, actauly doesnt realy sound different... but looks better.
the smoke is a gray/white
and it makes sense that now i can see the smoke more due to the muffler not filtering the air as much, so a head gasket, hmmmm, is there anything else i can conseder? it cant be the valve seals, cause that makes it leak oil right, if im leaking coolant, why isnt my coolant resevre empty or anything like that? is it leaking very very little..?
Thx for all the help everyone, and sorry for the bad spelling, im in a rush when im online, between school and work, sorry.

it wouldn't leak alot just enough to make white smoke.
