Default how far have you driven to buy a car?

a few years ago levi (plazma) and i drove from clearwater to ft. wayne, indiana (1,133 miles one way) to pick up an svo. that was a long ass trip, but it sure as hell wasn't uneventful. my truck popped a head gasket on the way back. poor levi had to drive my truck with the windows down in the freezing cold while i slept in the f-150 that was following us with another mustang on it.

i now live in kansas city, mo, and i'm leaving friday night to drive to ohio with a buddy of mine to pick up my new turbocoupe. i FINALLY found a really clean 88 that i like a lot. it's 678 miles one way. not too bad, but it's not right around the corner either.

how far have you gone?

I just drove 72 miles each way to buy my new car. I've driven ~130 miles with a friend to buy a car with him (down to Ft. Myers).

st. pete to houston for a pleasantly massaged 69' Mach 1 for a friend of mine..that car was one of the most beautiful rides i've seen in a long long while.

i think buford, GA is the furthest i've gone for something for myself.

Amazing, eh? I was running with a vette and a S-2000 - The guy in the vette was plain hauling - It was a red vette - so figured if anybody was going to get busted first - it was this guy.

Not sure I would do it again - it WAS lightly traveled - almost no traffic - although some of the closing speeds made you pay close attention to what was happening on the road way ahead of you.

I slowed when we started getting into traffic around Atlanta.

sounds like fun! i'll bet the gas mileage was horrible, but hey... at least you made GREAT time!

Actually I was pleasently suprised with 24 mpg. I got close to 30 mpg at less than breakneck speeds. The gearing is tall - my car will do close to 160 so guess that plays a big part of it.
