Matching tranny?
What common manual tranny will bolt to an older carbureted small block chrysler ? I'm most likely using a 318, and preferably looking for a 5 speed.

I'm putting a 2.2t in my challenger now, but i was thinking a 318/manual combo for fun at one point. this looks promising.

If you want a 5-speed you'll have to go aftermarket like Richmond.
318's used about every trans chrysler made over the years 904/727's auto and 833 man 4 spds. Just have to make sure it bolts up to a small block.
With the old 833 chrylser man. trans they made a short extension housing model (used in small mopars like darts) and a long extension. 833's are a side loader, they did use a top loader 435 trans in 4x pick ups.

Those Ricmonds are real pricey. Your prob better off with the 833 with a short extension. The top loader will prob be too high for the tunnel. But the 833 shorts are gtting harder to find every day. A friend of mine was telling me about someone selling a 18 spline hemi 833 box (bb only), I'm thinking he wanted over $500 for it.
