LOL, pile them on. I better put a cap on it, you, Chuck and RoadRacer are on the list. Don't forget Chin charges $20 to get a passenger pass, but you can ride in any car that the driver is solo or instructor in. Instructors are usually willing to take anyone out, they like to scare you. LOL Check this pic out, it's one of the Chin instructors taking a guy for a ride; if you use FireFox you may need to click the picture to blow it up, look at the guy's face:

I think it's cool to see people with nice cars posting on TR. Usually people with 2000 dollar DSMs and Civics chase them away before they get addicted and/or develop a hard enough skin to stand up to forum flames. It's mostly jealousy- look around at cars in peoples' profiles and you can tell that the majority of people here are young kids making way less than 30k a year. It seems that when these kids grow up and start making real money they either get out of cars entirely or just lose interest in posting. I'm sure a lot of the broke young kids who used to post 4 or 5 years ago are much better off now but just lost interest along the way.

The only thing I'm jealous of is your road racing. So awesome, but so far outside my college-student budget. At least I got rid of my over-modified DSM- I could never have made that thing road course bulletproof on my budget. I'm looking at getting a stock 240sx or MR2- even if I'm very slow, at least I should be able to track the car without my mods catching up with me.

The first rule of road racing is don't add up what you're spending, ever.

You might want to look at a Miata, you can turn a Miata into a very capable track car; it's cheap to buy, cheap to maintain and cheap to set up for track use, doesn't have a lot of power so that will encourage you to drive better in the corners to make up for it. There was a Miata that rode my ass all the way around Sebring the first time I took the Lambo there, couldn't shake it until the straights but then I had to point it by since it had been on my ass and was faster. It's a very popular car amongst instructors for this reason.

dont you ever worry about taking your $200,000+ car out to a track day and then having some asshole run into the back of u, or u losing it and putting it into the wall? i mean the car is meant to be driven and i applaud u for taking it out there but i what do u do insurance wise if something like that was to happen?

You grab your ankles and ask the insurance company to be gentle.

I wasn't very worried about someone being stupid around the Lambo, the HPDE events are quite safe, drivers are very courteous and have to point each other by to pass so most of the danger comes from your own doing. I drove it pretty conservatively when I was tracking it, but still very fun, enough to make me realize I wanted to keep doing it.

That's when I bought the Radical, it only took one ride with a friend to convince me that's what I wanted, it's much much faster than the Lambo. I don't insure it, although I don't think you can actually insure race cars even if you wanted to. It's one of those situations where once you decide you want to go beyond a certain level of performance, you have to sacrifice insurance. There is track insurance for street cars that you can get, it's expensive, but regular insurance will cover HPDE events in many cases.

Bet the radical is fun at sebring - nice to see performance cars tracked - and not stuck in a garage somewhere being polished with a diaper.

Chuck - I need to break out of the PCA thing and attend some chin and SAFE events - I've just been so friggin busy getting this house sorted.
