Question about where cat converter and exhaust header meets

Question about where cat converter and the end of exhaust header meets
there are two long bolts with springs insert and two nuts to secure them
are i suppose to tighten them all the way until i cant turn the wrench any more or ??
i only tighten them up to 90%

On my Acura 2.2CL I could always tighten mine all the way until the nuts bottomed out. *shruggs*

start it up and see if the flange gasket has set in properly(lil lead o-ring thingy)

the o metal ring does set properly...and securely too

There should only be about 1/2" of thread and then it's smooth shank, so tighten until you reach the smooth part but make sure it's not bottoming out the spring

By not bottoming out the spring, you allow some flex. That will reduce stress, and reduce future cracks/leaks.-Bob

that spring is there to keep tension really so they dont back out on their own. Usually those bolts have a lip towards the thread and bottom out againist the lip.
