Default Powdercoating

Who does it, how much would they charge to powdercoat a bunch of motorcycle body parts, and is it worth it vs. conventional paint?

I gave a quick look over the paint forum and around here and didn't see a thread. Any contacts are appriciated.

Not 100% on this, but I don't think so. I was under the impression that this is a fairly high-tempature application process.

So prety much any type of metal, steel, or aluminum can be powder coated, as can higher temperature carbon fibers, but not plastics, right?

Yes, pretty much any metal substrate can be powdercoated. Technically, anything "can" be powdercoated. With low temperature curing powder and conductive primer, almost anything is possible. Will you find a local shop that will, or will know how to, coat anything but metal? Probably not.....

Actually, plastics and wood are already successfully powdercoated...

Powder Coating Plastics - Wright Coating Company

The Powder Coating Institute - Powder Coating on Wood - An Impeccable Finish

I make powdercoatings for a living. I have seen some crazy advances in coatings technology in the past years.

Powder can be applied electrostaticly or by fluidized bed, and curing temperatures vary.

Sorry for the threadjack, but I know its not a very well known topic. Just trying to give some information on the subject.

I have heard ProCoat is a very good coater, the turn around time can be a little long though. +1 for them...
