Default tires

My tires are filthy. from 3 feet away or more, they look fine, but close up i can see the sidewalls are caked with dirt. what do you guys use to scrub dirt off with? im talking about special brushes, chemicals, etc?

I put tire shine on my whole rim (I have black rims) & it makes the rims & tires look brand spanking new.

I used to just wash them with soap & water, they would look good wet but once they tried it looked like crap. Try using the actual "wheel & tire cleaner". Smells just like bleach pretty much, spray it on your rims and it'll turn it all brownish (that's all the dirt & grease being removed). Then through some tire shine on there and you're set! Like maybe $10 worth of product and 15min of work.

well i use the tire shine too, but it picks up dirt and crap and gets the tire filthy. after weeks of that, and not actually scrubbing or cleaning the tire itself, the tire gets really dirty.

Do you spray it on and leave it? Spray it on let it soak for like 10min then wipe the excess off with a rag. Formula 2001 works well also, doesn't pick-up as much dirt & stuff.

There's your problem, there's too much excess. I'm sure you have it on your fenders & body too after driving with it.

Take your wheels off and spray the whole tire down with Aerospace 303 Protectant (After cleaning w/ a quality car soap and a normal sponge/brush of your choice).

The stuff is a little expensive, but it will help keep the tires clean and if you park in the sun it'll help keep the dry-rott/brown look away. Works great on plastic and rubber trim, too.

I like Meguiar's Tire Gel - It's purple and smells like grapes... I use it VERY sparingly though.. I don't like my tires looking like plastic... I may use it every other week, at most. Anymore than that and it slings everywhere and collects crap from EVERYTHING.
