You may also want to try taking a cloth and some rubbing compound or steel wool.

i use 2000 to wet sand and use this stuf called plastic-x its only a couple bucks at discount auto plastic polish. comes out great for me. i would buff it if i had a buffer but this has worked just fine for me for past cars that i have done.

I think the Turtle Wax Rubbering Compound is your best bet I'd try that first.

Metal polish? wtf.

Dry sand with about 400grit paper until you get the yellow out, then wetsand with 800, going up to about 1600. Its a lot of boring work but it pays off. At the end use rubbing compound and/or plastic-X i think it is. Works great, make sure to rub it in good and don't get it on your paint, looks like someone whacked off all around your headlights.

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.
