I'm looking for the smallest stock turbo made that I can get from a junk yard. I am building a 4cycle motor between 8 and 20hp and plan to turbo it just for shits and giggles. I'm also wondering if there is a belt driven oil pump that might be able to be fit to the motor, to supply the turbo with proper oil. In the same regards also looking for the smallest stock intercooler. this is a backyard project that has been in progress for a while and now getting more into it. Thanks for any help.

I can help you out with the oil pump idea. We change out "External Drive Compressors" on air conditioners and there is a belt driven pump on the front of the housing. These pumps maintain 35 p.s.i. at 2500 rpm so I am sure that you will be running higher RPM's than that so obviously the p.s.i. will be higher. I would check with local scrap yards and see if they have any old compressors. There are many diff. types, so you want to find one that has a large pulley on the front and looks just like a car engine but smaller and behing that pulley is the pump connected to the crankshaft

you're not going to find a 20hp-sized turbo in a junkyard. Even a baby #1 (smaller of the 2) RX7 turbo, 87 200sx turbo (T25), 1 300ZXTT (T22) or similar wouldn't even spool at that air flow. Maybe check some commercial mower/equipment places.

 

i had a link(lost it) of a guy with a alcohol honda 5hp with a 16g not boosting very much obviously but it ran and did create enough boost to notice. Now if he can do that with a 5HP motor a 20hp should do a bit more as for the mower places what would i look for? Ive never seen a turbo mower only the kabota(sp?) tractors.

IHI's off turbo probes are pretty small

 

there is a volvo in the brandon copher's, its right next to a black 3rd gne prelude with no front wheels or rotors on the car, its just to the right of it, and the turbo is seriously about like...3.5" in diameter if that

its in the very right section as your looking from the building, like 3rd row from the front or 4th
