Certain dealerships will offer you classes and on going training with a fix-rate salary for a short amount of period. Afterwards, your on your own. Its not for everyone plus alot of hours.

Known a few that have made over 100k a year but have a crappy social life, always on the go and talkin to clients on a daily basis.

who said i was selling peices of shit? i just moved a 2000 ford ranger for $1000 over kbb and a 89 240 with some mods for $2800.

you also dont know me, i can rock the suit out good. and no i havent failed at everything else at life, ive just started. im 18 and im about to put myself through school using money that i made selling other peoples cars for them. after my classes are done ill be in a career making about $25,000 starting out. so for my age i dont think im doing bad at all, i dont even have to work right now, if i want money i just sell another car.

this months personal sales should make $3200, thats just the profit ill make selling some of my cars, im not sure how much ill make selling other peoples cars. ive got two more to get rid of and should make a minimum of $1000. that aint much but shit, free money!

I f you have a lot of experience selling cars on your own and enjoying it, you will most likely hate doing it for someone else and for a living. I've known several wholesalers who have come into the new and used car sales depts and only last 1 month. It is nothing like your used to. But you never know you may be a natural at it and enjoy it.

My advice is: Your young and you feel good about yourself. Don't waste it becoming a car salesman. You will turn old become an alcoholic get 3 divorces and die a lonesome man.

Thats very true, you are young and realize exactly what you want! I used to hangout with a few car salesman (in their 40s)after work and realize that the money they make doesn't seem to make 'em happy, more bitter about life. Funny, all 'em I used to hangout all been through a divorces (from no time with their spouses, ettc), spending half their paycheck on child support and giving it to their ex wife. The other half is going to strip joints and blowin it off.

Sometimes I scratch myself why I'm still in the parts buiesness, shit, can't even spell for that matter lol

The 2 cars you posted are not really hot items.Selling is used car is one thing.Tring to sell a new car with upgrades or full package is another.

Financing is another issue, that they would have to be qualified for before the sale. But wouldnt be your issue.

Arent you the guy who had a beater first gen7?

Im guessing you live at home still.
Getting paid from peice work sucks.
So go ahead, put in the 50 hours a week with no cash flow coming in,then let us know how you feel.

I had have friends try the new car thing.
Then ran around as others guinnie pigs for about a month and didnt make any sales.

I am going to go against the grain here. First a little background. I'm 18 and sell new and used cars at a new car dealership. I'm going to school in August and till then am working, making money and having fun. I think selling cars is a great idea. Really, what you need is people skills more then car knowledge. It definitely is a plus being a car guy but definitely not the most important. I say go for it man. I work 5 days a week(sunday and one day a week off) and yes the hours are more then a usual job but where I work the latest I get off is 7 and this leaves plenty of time for a social life, and me and the guys from work often go out after work, and I have no problem meeting people. Not only will it help make you money, but also improve your people skills, allowing you to converse with many different personality types and demographics of people but also to help you mature. You can make good money doing this and while it is on commission it is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, sometimes your checks are bigger, sometime smaller but it all balances out, you just need to be fiscally responsible. Well that's my opinion. If you have any questions feel free to pm me.
