I work at Autozone, it is really laid back and fun, the pay isn't awesome starting out though. You get to see some funny shit when you work there, I had some hillybilly ricer come into my store (SR52) with his ugly ass Explorer with strobes on it, and these hideous graphics down the side of the car. He comes in the store and asks me what I think of his car (lol) i wasn't trying to be an asshole so I told him it was alright. He says "Autozone built dawg, I bought everything for the car here" I wanted to ask him if he rode the short bus when he was in school, but I was new and didn't want to get in trouble so I didn't say anything.

the only thing is, as a car washer, you simply wash the cars and probably get paid by piece work. and when you only get so many cars a day, and there's like 3-4 other guys working with you, it's a total rip off.

when i worked at saturn of clearwater i figured out i was only making $3.57/hour. I quit as soon as I got my 2nd check.

but hey, if you can stand doing that for a few months, you'll get to start detailing cars, which is what I applied for in the first place.

also, don't bother hitting up places like mercedes dealerships, etc., for a car washing job, unless you look like you should be driving a mercedes that your daddy bought you.

You got assraped.Theres detailers that i work with that make REALLY good money and they do piecework.I do parts at a dealership and left retail due to no promotion/advancement or good pay.I make more now than what the old store manager made at my last job in retail parts.Everyone that i used to work with at discount/pepboys left to a better job and dont regret it.

i would've been making better money if i stuck around and waited to be a detailer. but i was going broke in the meantime so i couldn't wait 3-5 more months for the chance.

Um...car wash boys are hourly...not by the job...unless if its different where you worked...

Also, how is Merc. any different from BMW? We'll hire ANYONE...illegal or otherwise...

...hell we had a guy who didnt even have a driver's license once...
