there are some very knowledgeable people on here and it seems if one does slip there is some one else to correct or to state there 2 cents of how they feel about what works best for the topic at hand.

i think these thread are pointless though because some do know shit about only certian makes/engines.

I think it was the poster's itnentions to find the one who has the most knowledge overall. Knowing th ins and outs of a 350 but nothing about a 1.6L Honduh is useless.

Incorrect. And ICE is an ICE. Each one has quirks and differences sure. But they all work on the same priciples. If you understand those basic principles...they can be applied to any internal combustion engine.

If you know a few "tricks" on a 350 only ...or a 1.6 honda only...I would not consider that person knowledgable about anything. Because if you are limited to one engine...that means your basically a parts changer that has copied someone elses formula and have little actual knowledge of what makes a car fast.

If someone is running a 1.6 honda and truely knows the workings of an ICE and applies that knowledge to it to gain more power.... he can do the same to a SBC and vice versa.

Not quite. Every manufacturer has the same basis for their ICEs, however everything else can be different from motor to motor. Pushrod/overhead cam/dual cams. VTEC, iVTEC, VVTI, hybrid technology, transaxle or transmission, sollid roller or hydraulic. Dry sump or wet sump oiling system. Fuel Injected or carbed.

Many peopel learn a lot of things about their own car due to working on and sure..they know a little bit..but take them from a 69 Charger to a 2006 Prius (do they make them anymore) and they'll be asolutely stumped.

yellow mirage is Jerry aka lancerman.
Who is a very knowledgable person in the workings of the ICE.
He builds engines, trannys and is a good tuner.

Al is also a very knowlegable person in how the ICE works and how to make it go. I also agree with him. A ICE is a ICE. The electronics or lack there of is a different story and thats where some people specialize in certain brands when it comes to the tunning. But anyone who knows there way around a engine, especialy any modern one can figure all that out with out to much difficulty.

I would consider myself one with good working knowledge of the ICE and how it works as well as a good tunner that specialises in Mitsubishis but I still lack in the over all knowledge that the likes of Jerry or Al and a few other here have.
