Watch out for the new E63
Those AMG's and BMW's have some pretty wicked traction control systems, I know for sure the bimmer's gets down with launch control software from the F1 team, so just about any joe blow is going to get close to those times.
Keep in mind C&D and such use correction factors (altitude, humidity) when they print test numbers so I wouldn't be a bit suprised if it actually runs mid to high 12's stock.

Agreed on the traction control....
The E63 is actually a very low 12sec car....the E60 M5 is a low-mid 12sec car
Dammit...I hope I'm not the only one...
I came here expecting some god of a 6 series, as the BMW code for the new ones is E63/E64

I bought my house for the cost of that car, but it's damn nice. I wouldn't want to own it without a warranty, although I suppose if you can afford the car, you can afford the maintenance when something craps out.

Seriously
what in the hell is going on here!
Look kids, listen to the man, the new Viper has 100% been able to hop into the 11sec range. Just because car and driver couldnt do it doesnt mean that it hasnt been done, and no one said ANYTHING about drag radials! Think about this, new z06, similar hp, less tq, and not too much weight difference - If you dont believe Chuck here or myself, PLEASE look at viper alley, ive seen it... and no two ways about it, the cars are serious! What doesnt make sense about 500+ cu. inches!? Are we the only two that are missing something here?
On another side note, maybe in luxury, or excusivity, the Chrysler LX cars(Charger, Magnum, 300C) cannot compete, but the SRT-8 variety have all made it into the mid 12's bone stock as well... Go check out SRToc and you can find a ton of info. I believe the fastest so far has been in the 12.5x or 12.6x range, which for under 50k is a HELL of a deal, considering this is two 43xx lbs sedans and a 43xx+ wagon! Granted the performance may not be the same to a T, but these are a hell of a bargain as well, for half the money!
