Default rpm stalls

I've never really seen this discussed anywhere. I hear a good amount on it on race cars and what not though. If you running a turbo setup, would the stall in the converter need to match he stall on the turbo?

Basically just a good explanation would be nice. also, typing with one hand sucks when your holding a sleeping baby...

stall on the turbo?

if I remember correctly you want to find where your car makes peak torque then have the flash stall of the convertor be a couple hundred rpm below that

if u want to launch at the right stall speed and perfuct shit'your supposed to put your stall speed at where ever your tq and hp lines cross on a dyno graph

but for the turbo ? it really comes down to your cam that your running because the cam is really the brain of any engine it tells it when to do stuff

Thats 5252 rpm on every motor, its a math thing.

Really it all depends on the individual combo.

every motor? even if they have different rev limits? thats kinda wierd. So for a vette and a ford escort are going to have the same cross at that rpm?

yep. hp=tq x rpm/5252 facot it out, youll see.

A big thing with launching turbo cars is the whole combo. You always want the motor to compliment the chassis requirements for a perfect launch, so it is different for every combination.

As far as converter stall, it depends on wt/tire speed. If its a stock supesion car on DR's you might want it after the tq. pk. to get the tire to hook with less power, and use a soft hit converter to draw the power back in.

Say in a 2200hp dragster you want the converter to hit hard as hell right below the tourqe peak to get the necessary tire spin so it dosent wad up and shake your teeth out.

Plus, when he says stall on the turbo, I think hes talking about turbo stall. This is when the inlet velocity reaches close to Mach 1.0 and you encounter what is call sonic choke, or stalling of the airflow.
