And I dont mean this in a mean way or trying to be funny, and I know Ima get flamed, but do you ever stop and ask yourself...."Is it worth it"? I mean I can go to the track or to the "races" in my stock 99LS1 Trans Am and beat atleast 90% of the cars out there. I know there are fast imports and all but in the end 9/10 times the same money invested in a Mustang or Camaro would have netted you a better result. I say this cuz about 2 weekends ago I was on Racetrack rd where its 2 lanes now and I race a red 240 lowered with rims and exhaust in my wifes 270hp 06 Pathfinder. I launched this guy by a car and pulled another 3-4 cars up to about 100 and yes, he was racing, he actually had the audacity to honk and wave when we slowed down, i was thinking to my self "you just got beat by a soccer mom SUV".
I had an STI a while back after driving Camaros and Mustangs and dont get me wrong, it was a fun little car, it had a pretty good deal of mods and I planned on stepping it up, but then it dawned on me...."It really just isnt worth it" the 4 or 5K I was gonna put into it could get me 10's in an LS1, so here I am, back in an LS1......
So do you ever ask yourself....Is it really worth it in the long run to spend a few grand to hang with stock V8's?

^i don't get it
modding an import is a tough line, i like them because i like smaller cars, soyou may broaden it to "sport compacts"
i just don't really like large vehicals, as far as my car, it won't be fast, but from where it came from, it'll be nice i spose
the next car, while being an import body, will probably be LS1 powered, so we'll see, FWD is tough for launching and cornering, RWD is fun, but again, its a smaller engine, but you gotta remember, they're lighter too, so its all your frame of mind, plus a civic is cheap

gotta get the right imports just as the right domestics. but most people do waste their time and money on their slow ass cars.

I completely agree with the OP on this topic.
Imports are such a waste of money and time if you're trying to be "fast" at the "races"...
If the subject is a budget autocross car, we may have a different argument

for argument sake, lets set the price limit at 8,000. you can get:
Domestic
LS1 Fbody - Run mid-high13's bone stock
96-98 Cobra - Run high 13's bone stock
Import
Integra GSR - Low 15's
Civic Si - Mid-High 15's
Eclipse GST/GSX - high 14's?
240sx - low 15's?
feel free to add on... its a bang for the buck kind of thing.. Vipers, and V12 cars are faster, sure, but you'll be spending ATLEAST 5x as much for one of them
