not talking about rust, but you know how that just some bolts get dull over time, esp in the engine bay? anyone ever tried acid dipping them to bring them back to new?

+1 When I took out the engine to fix seals I did just that. They almost literally rusted in my hands after I dried them off. Oh well. The engine smokes too much now to even see the bolts, so alls good in the end

I'd buy new ones. Bolts wear out over several loosenings and retightenings anyway, might as well get fresh threads along with shiny bolts.

+1 Bolts are cheap, as long as they are not unique.
