im looking to paint here soon too... and i dont want to take it to a cheapo maaco or some other place where it will look like trash, plus i want to take my time and nit pick it and do it "MY WAY" something i can be proud of. my problem is i have noplace to paint at. hell i will buy a gun if i have to, already have a compressor, does anybody know WHERE i can spend a day to paint my car?

 

you want to ask for a universal basecoat. some places may ask for an actual paint code, but if you're looking for a non-metallic or non-pearl black, get the universal basecoat. but make sure all the products you purchase, i.e. primer, reducer, hardener/catalyst, clear coat are all the same type...not necessarily the same brand, just same type, i.e. urethane, laquer, etc.

 

there used to be a few places here and there that you could rent a paint booth for a day. check the yellow pages or talk to a local paint shop...they might be able to assist you one way or the other
