Insurance Claims ?
I was in a 4 car pile up yesterday . Some truck rearended a women who the hit me and pushed me into the back of another lady . Now the car i was pushed into had no damage , but the rear of my car was smashed up . The lady who caused the accident was tickited and took to the Hospital . As for me and the lady behind me we was able to drive away . I have some paint missing and the right side of my bumper has come undone . I called my Insurance company GEHICO and filed a claim . Now they shouldnt have to pay for anything considering I was sitting still and was not at fault . So how will this work . i have a $1000 deductable , but Im not sure the damage was even that much . Should i have to pay anything out of pocket ? Or will my insurance company go after the lady at fault who was driving a company truck ? I dont think its fair to me to have to pay anything considering i was sitting still and then rear ended. Did I mess up by fileing a claim with my insurance company ? i want them to make the other company pay for it all . What happens now ? My adjuster is out of town so I wont know whats gonna happen till Thurs . I dont have $1000 to spend how dose this work in FL ?

you should not have to pay a single penny out of your pocket.
your insurance company will go after the at fault party or parties.
you did not mess up. you always have to make your insurance company aware of any accidents you have been involved in.
if you report the claim to the at fault insurance company then you wont have to pay anything.
if the other insurance company takes too long and you decide to go through your insurance, then you will have to pay the deductible. your insurance company would then fix your vehicle and subrogate against the at fault party. whenever your insurance company gets paid for the loss then your 1k deductible will be refunded to you.
you did everything fine. your insurance company will take care of you and make sure you get paid.
also, you might want to report the claim to the at fault insurance company so things move a little faster. unfortunatly the majority of at fault parties do not report to their insurance company hopeing the accident will just disappear.

I was in the same situation twice. First time went just like mrturbo2 stated, no problems. Of course, all parties involved were with the same company (progressive). So I didn't pay shit.
The second time didn't work out that way; the guy who hit me had some fly by night insurance and I had to cough up my deductible to get my truck fixed. Progressive tried (or so they said) to recover their money lost and my deductible legally, but they never got my money back from the owner of the car that hit me. I dumped them after that.

Actually...what he did WAS WRONG.
If you were not at Fault, YOU SHOULD FILE A CLAIM WITH THE OTHER PERSONS INSURANCE COMPANY.
Instead, you filed with yours, and this now counts against you, even if you don't collect a dime from Geico.
Personal Auto Insurance Premiums increase due to # of claims, not the value. Commercial auto is the exact opposite.
Example: You file 3 claims in 3 years, you will be canceled (and subjected to increases as well). It doesn't matter if the payout on all 3 claims was $500 total....it's the frequency that matters. And once you file a claim, it's written in stone...no going back.
For commercial auto, it ass backwards. You can have 10 claims, and they won't drop you, but have one claim that is a big one, like $150k, and your gone.
Go ahead and ask me how I know....(maybe becuase my wife is an Insurance agent, or that it happened to me back in 2000)

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.
A friend of mine was driving my car one day (ins was cancelled the day before) & some 16yo kid ran a stop sign in his aunts car & totaled my civic. This was at like 330. When I got their & the cop got done & gave the kid a tickett I called their insurance company (approximatly 445pm) & they had a rental car for me waiting in less than 15 minutes..... They had military insurance & they took care of me fully. No questions & gave me like 4x what I paid for my car & I kept it...(with a C.O.D.) So from my experiance call their insurance company & they should take care of you with out a problem

your insurance company will go after the at fault party or parties.
you did not mess up. you always have to make your insurance company aware of any accidents you have been involved in.
if you report the claim to the at fault insurance company then you wont have to pay anything.
if the other insurance company takes too long and you decide to go through your insurance, then you will have to pay the deductible. your insurance company would then fix your vehicle and subrogate against the at fault party. whenever your insurance company gets paid for the loss then your 1k deductible will be refunded to you.
you did everything fine. your insurance company will take care of you and make sure you get paid.
also, you might want to report the claim to the at fault insurance company so things move a little faster. unfortunatly the majority of at fault parties do not report to their insurance company hopeing the accident will just disappear.

please listen to what mturbo said here and what i said in the other thread. people are very mislead on how insurance works for the most part and its mostly bc of rumors or misinformation or not getting the entire story. insurance is not easy to understand, you cant learn it over night. i hate these threads bc i always have to argue my case and i shouldnt have to. i'ved worked for claims, sales and service for insurance. i know the inside and out of insurance, i'm licensed for 49 states, i know what i'm talking about and i'm tired of arguing it.
