exotics...
I've heard people say before how it's pretty sad that a 10K car will smoke a 200K car, and that they are a waste of money etc.
I don't agree with that.
I would take a new f430 over any 9, 10 second, stang, camaro, vette, supra, whatever.
Even people comparing new z06s to say a f430. The z06 is a great car, maybe the best american sports car ever, and it is a little faster than an f430. But there is a reason where in ever single comparison (motor trend etc) they pick the f430.
Why? Because it's more than numbers. It the entire driving experience. The steering, the sound, the fit and finish. That's what you're paying for in addition to the fact that you'll own a car that you don't see everyday.
If I was filthy rich, instead of dumping a bunch of money into a "regular" car just for 9 sec timeslips or whatever...I'd get a f430 or something, add a tubi exhaust and some wheels and call it a day.
Thoughts?

I think you gotta have a healthy respect for both if you love cars. Sure you can take a lower priced car and make it a Ferrari beater but the technology that you are using to get it there originated with the Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Porsches of the world.
If someone were to give me a huge sum of money for buying cars I would say it'd be tough for me not to get a Pagani Zonda or LP640, but at the same time it'd be tough for me to turn down having a stable of modded Supras, RX-7s and Skylines (yes Skyrines nevah loooose lol).

My opinion is that exotics are a waste of money and status symbols. They do a fantastic job of showing how much money you've just spent. They do look and perform good though.
That being said, if I was filthy rich, I'd probably buy a top of the line turbo Porsche as a daily driver, and then have several custom cars/tow vehicles in the stable.

And dumping 15k into a civic isnt a waste of money?

i'm with Bottlefed, i think cheaper faster cars are great, bang for the buck and all that, but the intake honk at the hips of the car while being able to slide it around past 90 degrees at like...9K RPM stock shifting with one of the quickest transmisisons in the world while still having leather, AC, and being able to cruise by and get looks from EVERYONE....but maybe thats just me

I like alot of exotics, but ferraris are probably my favorite. Nothing sounds like a ferrari. I heard a 360 awhile back with a tubi exhaust...sweetest sound I've ever heard.
