Default SCCA T1 National Runoffs

Viper dominates 4 of the top 5 starting positions.

Six Vipers with 40% restrictors and 140lbs of added weight vs 15 Vettes.

Apologies to my Vette buds but I gotta rub it in.

Damn, thats dominating.

question, ive heard about restrictor plates, how does that work exactly, im a noob to racecars and ive only heard restrictor plates on them. also when weight is added, where do they place the weight and how? do you atleast get to decide where to put it? sorry for the noob questions.

NASCAR uses restrictor plates. They are a thin aluminum plate that fits between the carb and manifold. It has holes bored in it to whatever size NASCAR dictates and is the easiest way to restrict the amount of fuel to the motor. Usually only used at Daytona and Talladega.

Same concept for fuel injection cars except it is just referred to as a "restrictor" and it fits in the throttle body.

"Awards" weight can be placed anywhere on the car but is typically bolted to the passenger-side floor board.

WC GT Atlanta race two weeks ago on Speed Saturday (tomorrow) at 3pm.

T1 live timing on SCCA.com at 5:10pm Saturday.

Oh and just to rub it in a little more...

Speed World Challenge GT Manufacture points with one race remaining.
Dodge 55
Cadillac 50
Porsche 50

Corvette 35

All the Dodges are privateers.
All the Caddys are factory-backed, something that should royally piss off a Vette guy I would think.

To run in the World Challenge GT top ten it takes $25K to $30K per race and a good driver. The fact that GM has spent millions backing Caddy and hiring some of the best drivers they can get and is still losing to Dodge speaks volumes about Viper performance and durability. I don't know of any hired guns driving Vipers in WCGT. All are owner-drivers I believe. No need for factory sponsorship when your product does well on it's own.

SCCA T1 are the street cars we can buy off the showrooms, add the required safety equipment and go wheel-to-wheel. Even though technically they are amateurs the front-runners would be respectable in WC GT.

The good: I'm in Topeka this weekend.

The bad: I'm stuck doing wedding stuff for a buddy and won't make it out to the track.

Well in all fairness the vette is a $40,000 sports car and the Viper is an $80,000 "supercar"
