I think JDM is stupid........ok ok before you guys hack into my computer and blow my house up let me tell you why......tonight I seen the saddest thing. Two kids were lookin at eachothers cars, so I go over where they were and as I roll up I notice a nasty smell......(the cars were 89-92ish crap-mobiles) trying not to notice the smell I say hey and they give me a nod......so I get out and the one scrub kid was showing the other scrub kid the inside of his car....saying this was JDM and that was JDM..... I just held my breath trying not to laugh...as by the look and the smell of them you could tell they were right out of a dump....and the kid trys to say they are JDM........from then on I had lost all respect for the popularity of JDM.....IM all american baby

 

jdm- its not a life style - however people have tried to turn in into one ! i drive one of the more desired "jdm" cars and in isn't even jdm , it's usdm but i bet if i gave someone my stock itr shift knob it would immediatly be sold on ebay as "jdm" itr .. people should step away from the classifications and what not . build a car. make it fast . and hopefully even reliable ( a little )who cares where the parts came from !

JDM is pretty rare here, well, well done JDM, its all about the look your going for. to me, a USDM Type-R front end doesn't look as good as a JDM Type-R front end. and some OE JDM parts perform better than OE USDM parts, as well as the engines giving more power and better gear ratios. but a BA4 with an INX front end rolling around here would get respect, how many INX have you ever seen, and i like the Silvia S13 front end better then the USDM flip-up headlights, because i just don't think it looks as good, and an S15 front i think looks real swell, but you'll never really see many S15s here either, will you? and stock for stock SR20 turbo VS ka...
and i think the stock NSX-R seats were way hotter then the type-s

but yes, it can be riced out, but it can also be a way of extensively changing the look and style of your car without drawing alot of attention from someone not in the know. and some of the parts from Japan like top-secret and spoon and stuff like that are fairly unique over here, or at least in FL

don't get me wrong i luv. the jdm rrrr front end and the rhd 240's but if part x gives me 10hp and part y gives me 5hp but it "came from japan" and i had to wait 2-4 weeks to get it , even though it really came from socal, but it "came from japan " i'll take the more power yeilding bosniaustrailagermanish part any day of the week !

 

very true, but that goes back to a ricer part that was just made in china more then likely, if its a quality part and its a company you like to rep, why not?
