Default Radiator flush

From what I understand I need to do.. I need to disconnect the lower coolant line and drain the coolant out.. Then I need to take the radiator our and flip it upside down and flush from the bottom hole to the top..

Then I need to do something with the waterpump and thermostat? Could somebody explain what I do with the waterpump and thermostat? I know I should replace the thermostat right?

Please help.

there is a draincock somewhere on the bottom of the radiator. take it out and let all the shit drain out. go grab a bottle of flush from advance/autozone and dump it in the radiator and fill it up with water. start your car up and let it run for a little. pull the bottom hose off and let all the crap drain out, then fill it back up with water and let it go through the motor, then drain it, then fill it, then drain. keep doing that until the water comes out clean. tighten up the draincock...dump in a gallon of antifreeze... top off with water and you're done.

That's how it's done!

Draining the bottom should drain everything. You ever took a funnel, rubber hose, and some beer. Well, get the hose connected to the bottom of the funnel, then turn the funnel upright. Then pour beer in the funnel. Connect the one end of the hose to your mouth, and then have one of your friends lift it as high as they can above your head....you take it on from there.

Disconnect the bottom hose if it makes it any easier. Like mine's, I have to because it doesn't have a drain plug.

1. Remove air intake pipe
2. Start car
3. Place brick on accelerator
4. Jam garden hose into throttle body
5. Turn on garden hose at full blast

/flush

make sure you shake the radiator when you take it out!! you want to get all the sludge from the inside out!, Also take a hammer and LIGHTLY hit the fins on the radiator so they bend inward that way you get more fins into the air and the radiator works better and cools faster!

^ That's only if you don't use Prestone's radiator cleaner.
That stuff EATS away the aluminum.

I drove around on it for 3 days with water, the inside radiator was clean as mill finished.
So yeah, follow directions, or run on it for a few hours.

Some of the last replies were humorous!

If you remove the t-stat before the flush, water will flow easier,
and I also cut the heater on, to open the heater "radiator"
to flush it out too.-Bob
