I was there for 30 laps and that was to much, I got free tickets only reason I went but there is no way I would pay 140 for tickets. It was different

33 cars within two seconds of each other in the final laps at 180mph? If that's boring then what is 50 commercials in the final two minutes of an NFL game? Or the NBA stretching the final 20 seconds into 20 minutes? Or baseball...need I even comment on baseball?
To each his own. Every entertainment venue has a nitch. Be happy you aren't taxed to pay for NASCAR like you are to pay for million-dollar NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL players, owners and their arenas.

I watched it on TV with friends. I thought the race was very boring and there were ENTIRELY too many commercials (I think it was a 50/50 split between race and commercials).
But usually they are exciting. And if you think Daytona is neat, go see a short track!

Saying it's pointless, is basically saying racing is pointless, and last I checked this is Tampa Racing forum, so why are you here?
As for those who say it boring.....yes it is, only if you don't know the sport. If you don't know the drivers, what goes on during the race, and especially if you have no one to root for, then yes it is boring. But it is like that for every sport. If your un-educated, it's boring. Unless of course it's baseball, then it's boring no matter what lol. I used to think Tennis and Golf where boring (well still are to me, unless it's a major event), until I understood how they were played and what was at stake. A playoff during the Masters in golf is far from boring to me.
But like he said, 33 cars with-in 2 seconds of each other at 180+ is not boring. Have you ever driven on the interstate with heavy traffic but at regular speed (65+) and it's worrysome because your not 100% on switching lanes, well it's like that except 120mph faster.
The commercials are boring though, Nascar needs to set up their races like the IRL does, where you have a small screen showing the the race during commercials, like a picture in picture.
that pic in pic is cool, but i just think if the last turn before the finish is turn 4, thats kinda crappy, and yeah, the cars are awesome, but its just a boring track

I've never found restrictor plate tracks boring, same with drafting. But to each their own. I do find short tracks boring though, because they complete laps in under 20 seconds and there are constantly yellow flags, and wrecks. Sure wrecks are exciting to most, but it get's old to a Nascar fan. I also don't like the fact that I can go cut my grass during the middle of the race, come back, and they have completed 150 laps lol.
