What Car Do YOU Choose?
I think the movie Speed Zone is what did it for me. I watched it when it first came out.
Ya know it still remains the only car that doubles as a skipping stone.

It's a movie. It's called Speed Zone. It has John Candy, the dad from American Pie, and a long list of other actors in it. In the first scene you see a bright red countach bookin' it through all these winding roads. When the road dead ends into a pond he punches it, skipping the under-carriage across the pond to the other side just like a stone.
SHUT UP!!! IT WAS REAL!!!

just bought my ultimate DD after wanting one since I was a kid, 06 E46 M3 SMG.
Even after 6 years (E46 M3 = 2001-2006) I think it is still the 'total package' when it comes to a sporty daily driver. Sure a wrx or sti with bolt ons is faster, but uhhh... well just look at the sexy beast in my sig
If I wanted to settle for a less practical DD, I think it would be hard to go for anything but the C6 Z06.... Ridiculously fast, light, looks great...the "poor mans supercar".
When it comes time to get a 4 door, ultimate DD will be M5 or S4... Would say the RS4 but the front end of that car is ugly as sin.
"Dream" cars include late 80's red Countach, almost any Ferrari, and the Shelby 427 Cobra (someday going to build one).

07 or newer Alpine White/Sepang Bronze/Carbon trim M coupe with BMW Assist, Navigation, and most importantly a small turbo pushing single digits for boost. Its got everything I want: 2 seater, hatch in the back to hold your crap, looks good, has an exuberant amount of space to work in the engine bay, a regular Z4 with the top down is one of the stiffest cars I've ever driven so I cant imagine how nice an M coupe would be, parts are readily obtainable for obvious reasons, etc.
They truely built this car for the enthusiast since they dont have runflat tires, ONLY comes in 6-speed manual form, Xenon HIDs come standard, hydrolic power steering (why they didnt keep electric is beyond me though) blah blah blah
Other than that, either a MkIII or MkIV Supra with around 450RWHP, manual, A/C, excellent quality supporting mods, etc.

As far as boosting the S54 motor goes, good luck. You'll have to be quite the hacker and engineer to pull it off -- right now there are no turbo kits for the S54 and I don't believe I have ever heard of someone successfully turbo charging one. The hardware for it is done, but the software isn't complete yet. Supercharging, you can get a stage 1 kit from activeautowerke in Miami for about 10k. They don't have their stage III kit available yet and may never sell it, only a few people have it and are pushing 500whp.
Also, as I understand it one of BMW's most enthusiast-oriented cars, the M3 CSL, only came with an SMG transmission.
