Default Air Conditioning question

The air in my car isn't cold. When I turn the a/c on the compressor spins 1/4 of a turn then stops, spins 1/4 of a turn then stops and keeps doing that. When I test the system pressure it registers 0, the needle on the gauge does move at all.
When I try and put freon in the system, it won't take it. When I hook-up the a/c refill hose with the engine and a/c on and attempt to fill the system, freon and oil from the refill can spray everywhere when I take the line off.

Could this be a bad expansion valve? Would that cause the compressor to start and stop?

I'd check your gauges. Maybe a stuck shrader valve? Bad press switch?

Try depressing the shrader valve with a small screwdriver and see if anything shoots out.

I just went and tried that and stuff freon/oil comes out of the high and low valve opening...... it was a white foam, light green oil substance and gas (freon)

Well you got freon oil and leak checking dye in the system. So it must be something electrical, or the compressor/cluch is locked up.

did you try hooking the bottle up the the compresor itself? you might have to take the lines off the compresor to do this but It will tell you if the compresor is shot. Also before you take the lines off clamp down the lines on the rubber part real hard so you dont loose the freon and preasure of your sytem. If that doesnt work Jam the bottle of freon into the High Side (red cap) make sure you go it tight and have a friend start the car with the a/c on.

Thanks, I will investigate the other possible issues.
The previous owner installed a new high pressure switch.

after your done destroying your A/C with everything I have told you to do, take it to an A/C place. Seriously your compresor is locked up, my wife's celica did the same thing. Dont mess with your A/C, It will only get worse/more expensive if you start taking stuff appart. When your a/c dies plan on spending $500+ to fix it.

$1500 is that for a vacuum pump or an a/c recycling machine? Most vac pumps go $200-300.
