Oh Jesus—has this devolved into ANOTHER import vs. domestic thread? This is about the overall U.S. auto industry...

Every manufacturer has recalls, so it's next to impossible to infer average vehicle quality from posting arbitrary recalls.

The bottom line is still that our economy is based on competition. Our government has spent billions to help bail out all kinds of industries. It has also imposed billions in import fees to discourage foreign companies from competing.

The U.S. auto industry has taken this protection and squandered it. They have become dependant on the shields and subsidies our government puts up to tilt the playing field in their favor, yet bad management has ensured they are STILL having a hard time competing. I think GM has been managed more poorly than Ford, but again I'm generalizing to the entire industry.

The quality of the products companies make plays a huge role in how competative they are, but so does consumer perception. GM is making good cars, but the overall brand has taken too many hits. They have a lot of work to do before perception shifts again in their favor.

well the car can be assembled in america, but the design and development of the drivetrain is from japan, well at least mine is......far far less issues then with my first supra which was a 7mgte...... i still depend on the japanease cars whey more then american made....ive seen both sides and thats the choice i take. my family has 3 Yotas and not one of them have had problems within the past few years.. basic maintence is very easy and cheap if your not a moron

I mean... what better way to prove all the talk and ego's wrong than to conduct a nationwide poll like JD power or consumer reports?

I hope to have my lumbar seats fixed by then, I bought these nice lumbar seats out of a wrecked T/A and the driver seat is a little bent (he got rear ended) The upper frame is already in transit and I should have it in by next weekend
