Default Dead car, new battery.

I have a dead car that I'm going to try to get to start. The problem is all I have is a new battery. I know they aren't very good for trying to start dead cars, so should I charge the battery more first? I don't have a way to conveniently jump it either.

And by dead I mean the car that hasn't started in a while (little over a year), think it may be bad fuel/lost fuel system pressure/etc, but need to get the engine moving using starter fluid to be sure.

I've always found new batteries start dead cars easier than old dead batteries start new cars.

Car started right up w/starter fluid in the intake. Won't stay running, so I assume the fuel system needs work. Which sucks because I don't have AAA for towing.
