had a wood wheel on my Triumph TR6. It was fine...but it wasn't as smooth and shiney as the one pictured.

Yeah it can be. My friend has a polished wooden Nardi in his rolla and it slips pretty badly.

Take the polish off. Splinters help grip.

The natural moisture of my sweaty palms as I hold
the wheel in the grip of death after I have outbraked
the motorcycles into the turn, passed the Corvettes
on the outside, and accelerated out of the turn,
serve to prevent slippage on a polished Nardi wooden wheel.-Bob

If you want grip, get the plain slip-on fake leather
cover with the notches all the way around the outside.
It seems to give you more leverage, too. -Bob

I have a Nardi Classico wheel in my 97 and it grips better than the leather MOMO in my 96, sweaty or no. I was surprised.
