I have a VIS Invader style hood on my s14 and hate it. Everything under the hood's either polished or chromed and with water getting in the vents, there's a lot of up keep on the parts under the hood. Same goes for dirt and dust.

a stock hood would solve that problem.

I just got one on my car for my TMIC. I was wondering the same thing. Can you put like a mesh or anything to help keep the debree out. My biggest scare is a rock or osmething flying in to the hood scoop and cracking something under neith.

if a rock big enough to crack something under the hood hits the mesh... i dont think it will do much.

One car has a rear facing cowl induction with a high rise hood and a stainless steel cold air box that I made; and doesn't get that dirty.

On another car I made brackets and installed flush screening under the hood holes so pressure from air flowing over the hood pulls air from inside and keeps it pretty clean.

Another alternative, make a removable cover, paint it black so it won't be noticed
and remove it when you want to show off the car.

I would screen it, though. If you pay for the screening, I can help you install it.-Bob

.......screening also keeps birds from getting sucked down into
the motor when you floor the gas....

I had a grille over my TMIC on my WRX - the biggest thing it ever caught was.. A cigarette butt.

So yeah if you've got a hood scoop for a TMIC you might want to invest in something to protect it. I seriously doubt a rock would have enough velocity to pierce the TMIC but it would make it look pretty fugged up.

I like the cover idea...the new gto's have a similar method with their hood scoops, except its a rubber piece that fits in the holes.
