Default Company I work for impounded a Caprice with 891,000 Miles On it

i thought this was remarkable...and only found out after talking to the owner after he came and picked his vehicle up. The Caprice was a 91 and had the original motor which (according to the owner) burned very little oil. The car was on its third transmission and was driven periodically from Edmonton Alberta to St Pete BCH FLA. Interestingly enough...he wants to keep the car until it passes 1 Million miles.

In case anyone wants to run a carfax...the VIN is: 1G1BN53E8MW202109

did the body or interior seem like it had that much mileage on it.

that's incredible.
goes to show you that ,given proper maintenance and care, even domestic cars can run close to forever.

the interior had wear similar to vehicles with 200+k miles on it. the exterior did have some rust and the owner said that had happened only recently. i also believe he was having an issue with the drivers side power window. the vehicle was actually towed by mistake by someone who works for us...and i know where the vehicle is parked because its at one of our more active accounts. if i think of it...i'll bring a camera with me and swing by there over the next week.

the thing is though...i've NEVER seen a vehicle (at least knowingly) with over 300k miles on it...so i'm not sure how it was supposed to look...although he had clearly taken care of it.

American RWD V8's are some of the most reliable cars on the road...its fwd 4cyl/v6 domestics which don't last past 200k miles without breaking down.

it makes me laugh when people share their personal stories...

vehicles with 300k and 400k and even 500k cannot be compared to a vehicle with 900k miles...that is still running the ORIGINAL motor.
