I previously had an older style front end on my car that did not use projectors, but instead used a standard halogen reflector housing with H4 bulbs. I converted that to HID as well using shielded HID bulbs to reduce glare. The cutoff on those was pretty good as well, but nowhere near as good as the projectors. I might have some pics handy, I'll see if I can still find them.
this is about the only pic that I could find of when I had the H4 HIDs

its shot in a parking lot against a co-workers car so its not the best shot, but there is no glare with this setup as well.

First off, stock HID's are 43-4500K. Its the projectors and the lenses that make them look blueish/purpliesh color. If you have plastic headlight housings youre gonna get glare. For best results youll need a projector-style headlight preferably with glass. Do you know what size bulb you need?
