Does anyone know of a good place to get fenders and a hood color matched for not an arm and a leg? It doesn't have to be perfect, a decent job will do. Thanks.

Places that sell paint to body shops can put an optical device on your aged paint, and computer match it; even accounting for fade. Call the supply houses to find who has this device, then ask them what shops are their customers.
I have carried in the gas cap cover, and they matched the paint perfectly.-Bob

 

How expensive is stuff like that? Would it be cheaper to just get a new decent paint job if I wanted to go to a color like black?

 

They don't charge any more to get the color matched.
They want to sell you the paint,
instead of someone else selling you the paint.

When you do a color change, you have to do the inside of doors, trunk, etc
and THAT can be more hassle than getting the color matched to start with.

ooorrrrr........if doing the door jambs is too much hassle, and paint matching is too much hassle, a person can always buy used spray cans from the flea market
and have a paint job that everyone will call "unique"..... -Bob
