just wondering how long people have been going out to gandy for the races.
i haven't gone out there in a while but i started going when i was 14 and i'm almost 23 now..i remember when every one raced on gandy and 4th..u would just go back and 4th..that was before shit got all crazy and the imports came.

 

I use to go with my dad when I was really young like 6-8 with my mom . He had a El Camino with a built 406 Small block TH400 and a 12bolt ... and some spray lol


It was fast and the reason I do what I do ..

 

i was 15....my girl friends dad would take us out there sometimes.he drove a z28 it was pretty fast i guess dont really recall.but then i turned 16 and drove myself....im 24 now

 

Started going when I was 16 (1997), but I haven't gone in years.

 

Went with a friend that had a decent '90 Mustang GT, was pretty quick for what it had done, I started going out maybe 6 years ago? It was still alright, compared to how it is now though...

 

I have only lived here for 2 years and got into a carclub . I thought Sonic was the place for Sat nights till everyone was like lets to to GANDY . I thought it was another place like sonic . Well to my surprise the night we went there was like 100 + peeps down there and people where racing up and down the Bridge . I saw some nice cars , but then too many cars started showing up and the police busted it up . I had some friends whos into cars and has a tricked out Z we went down there and it was like a car show all these nice cars . Some guy had a cool celica all glassed with blue fiberglass . It was cool . I also found out all the street race movies they advertise on USA and some other channels late at night with the sportbikes and stuff . The comany is located here in Tampa . I wonder if they had ever filmed at GANDY . I went back a few other times , but it sucks cause the cops bust it up or people are just rude acting like a Cobra Mustang can beat a Porche 911 . So I dont go out there hardly anymore

I used to go out there when I was in HS back in around 2002. I had just bought my first car (Galant VR4) and everyone would ride out to Gandy. I just remember surprising a lot of people with the galant and my friends GST. Those were the good days. The last time I went a cop tried to arrest me becuase I was pulled over on one of the piers fixing something on my car. I havent been back since. It is wayyy over rated.
