Okay due to my recent sponsorship. I have been talking to the owner of the company pretty frequently and we have been discussing the goals that I have. He could honestly care less about looks, his main concern is the performance aspect of my car. (Though I plan on refurbishing the Z's looks a little)...

We were discussing what sort of HP we were planning on going. I was tossing around the idea of 500rwhp and during the convo he mentioned he is coming out with new stage 3 BB turbos he is looking for someone to try out. Capable of well over 650+... My question is... Is how driveable is 650hp?

To do this, I would have to get some internal work.. Although I will get a pretty damn good deal on everything due to the sponsorship, it would still cost more.

What would you do? Be happy with 500 (I am shooting for 550rwhp) or go ahead and splurge and get the 650ish (Only live once right?)....

I think im leaning more towards the 550 personally.

Ugh.. I figured someone would try and say that.

This could be the difference of me spending thousands of dollars, and I want some people who actually own cars with that sort of hp (I know there are some on here somehwere) and can give me input on if its worth it or not.

So say its bragging, I call it trying to spend my money wisely and doing some research.

Thanks

Well you haven't gotten very detailed with the difference between the two setups. Is the higher HP one going to require larger cams with a rougher idle, or will you need a standalone? What sort of turbo(s) would get you the 500-550hp you're talking about? If it's just basic turbo upgrades, it'll be just as driveable as any other turbo car. Easy to drive around town, but wild when your right foot dictates. Another 100-150 hp isn't going to be a dramatic difference in driveability. You're still going to get the same gas mileage out of boost, just more power when you're at WOT and redlining it.

A larger turbo could even be considered MORE driveable, since you can rev higher without getting into boost, which is where gas mileage and traction start to decrease.

Thanks for the reply.

At this stage I have upgraded turbos (Stage 1's) good for 500rwhp already installed. I would need just bolt ons and some really good tuning to reach 500rwhp. This will however be kind of pushing these turbos to their limit.

The 650+ would require a new turbo and some basic internal work. It wouldn't require larger cams (though its a good idea), just some stronger internals. Its said that our internals are good for 650-700 hp but its still smart to just go ahead and get stronger internals. I don't think it would cause that much of a difference in idle either way. I would not need a standalone either.

Thanks for your input, much appreciated

If I were you, I would splurge and take the oppurtunity at hand. To me, peace of mind is priceless, and strong internals are never a bad idea. You're only gonna notice a difference when you get on it.
