Default engine cleaner/additives etc....

ok guys just got a 92 corolla from down in miami. the oils look a little more than brown so am gonna go ahead and change the oil. i wanted to know if there are any engine additives or anything similiar that would make a difference and help remove sludge and any other deposits. i see prolong and others in stores. which if any can i use to i guess "clean" out any potential sludge that may be deposited in there. lmk

If you break loose the sludge, it might be a good idea to change filters REALLY often until
it gets out the chips. Sometimes a person is better off to leave the crud sticking to the walls instead of setting it loose where it can clog passages and get to bearings.

I also put a strong magnet on my filters to catch metal "dust".-Bob

I like Gold Eagle. Pour it in, run for about 2-5mins, and then flush and oil change.

i don't know if this is what your talking about or not, but i use engine restore every oil change, it is a noticeable difference, and cheap too, but its for filling small imperfections in the walls and stuff, not so much cleaning i guess

hope this helps/is what your looking for

Bring it to my pennzoil in bloomingdale and we can drain the oil, pour in a gallon of engine flush and after ten minutes we drain and fill with oil.

we charge 20 bucks for the engine flush and the price of a oil change.

replace all the oil with water, run the car until it shuts itself off

that's how you know it's ready for new oil

The only engine cleaner that I have never seen someone not approve of is water.

Seriously.
