It depends on the manual tranny, even on manuals there are some that still can't be run in neutral without screwing up the tranny.

aside from screwing with the tranny it's a violation of the traffic statutes.

316.2024 Coasting prohibited.--The driver of any motor vehicle, when traveling upon a downgrade, shall not coast with the gears or transmission of such vehicle in neutral or the clutch disengaged. A violation of this section is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a moving violation as provided in chapter 318. amazingly fucked up but true.

History.--s. 1, ch. 71-135; s. 1, ch. 76-31; s. 154, ch. 99-248.

Note.--Former s. 316.094.

http://www.flsenate.gov/Statutes/ind...316/ch0316.htm

when on the page hit 'ctrl' and 'F' then type in 'neutral' and then search, the first hit should be this statute.

How is it harmful to a manual tranny? you go in neutral when you shift gears. All your doing is just disengaging the gears.

i wanna know how they would inforce that no coasting law. Or even know if your doing it.

To make it look like a manual at a stoplight.
