f1 use's sequential gear boxes and "paddle shift" is just techtronics on the steering wheel if im not mistaken. they only thing they realy have in common is there on the steering wheel.

The only paddle shifted manual transmissions outside of Ferrari, Maserati, and Lamborghini that I know of are the e46 M3 and the Toyota MR-S. Everything else is just an automatic transmission with some kind of buttons/paddles/flippy shifter thing.

from what i heard, from like, car and driver, was that the Tiptronic in the 5th gen prelude wooped ass on the Porsches Tiptronic, either way i wouldn't have it,

I would however have paddles though, those are badass, not as fun, as in the act of shifting, as a stick, but alot quicker shifts and just damn nifty

Actually, tip tronic is where there's an extra space on your gearbox console denoted by + and -... you can "tip" the shifter knob in either direction to tell the tranny to downshift or upshift. Paddleshift is different, as already mentioned, on the steering wheel.

How would shifting gears be fun w/o the clutch?

tiptronic, steptronic...or whatever its called, depending the car maker, has been around for decades.
Even the 1995 Honda Accord base model has it. Just shift it to #1, and change as please.
I used to drive mines around like that for awhile pretending i have some awesome car I was young back then.

Other manufacturers use Tiptronic-like systems under different names:
Acura: SportShift
BMW: Steptronic
Infiniti: Manual Shift Mode
Jaguar: Bosch® Mechatronic
Lexus: E-Shift
Mazda: Sport AT
Mercedes-Benz: TouchShift
Mitsubishi: Sportronic
Peugeot: 2Tronic
Saab : Sentronic
Smart : Softip
Volvo: Geartronic.
