Today the porsches and vettes did quite well. Caddies also did well. Second place actually went to the only C5 vette in the field and I believe he is from FL.

I had a lot of fun with my new camera and took 337 pics if anyone wants something. Mostly Speed GT with some Speed Touring.

Great seat. Inside turn one the fastest part of the track and where most of the passing is. Can see the whole front stretch, turn one and two going into three.
Ticket cost $85. I'll let it go for best offer.

Three Vipers in the top ten. Top Viper was Woodhouse in 5th. Not bad. Pretty good racing and a lot of action in turn one.

tkrsky, mind if I link some of your pics?

Haha, I'm surprised gigliotti's car ran for long enough to get a photo of it on the track. Congrats my friend, you have a rare shot.

Lou was fast and qualified on pole I think, but about 15-20 laps into the race the car started losing pace.

Chuck I think you were the smart one - I didn't get to go Saturday - but went Sunday - next year it will be the GT only - Saw the tuner series before the gp - yawn.

I did go to the AXA open house at Blvd customs and the Caddy open house and talked for awhile with John Pilgrim. Nice guy. That car is about as far from a production car as you can get. Race seat was almost in the back seat area, engine must have been pushed back 30 inches... He was telling me that it gets about 145 in the cabin now - used to be in the 160 degrees - and he has scortched shoes to prove it - sounds like a viper eh?

Yeah, those caddies are almost unfair. I cant believe they dont absolutely dominate as it is quite apparent they have the speed and driver ability.

The level of tweaking and factory backing on cars like those make it so hard for teams like the skyline team to compete.

Another thing that shocked me was so many teams seem to not know how much power they make...just guessing. From the looks of things, that skyline which should be making about 420whp is getting outpowered by probably 100hp. However the AWD launch at the begining was great

Another thing about the Caddys is that in a few years GM will finally realize what a waste it was to invest in breaking into the luxury sport market and they will no longer be around whereas the Vettes, Porsches and Vipers will still be racing. I really coudn't care less about seeing that clunky-looking four-door granny car with the most Gawd-awful paint job keeping pace with the sports cars.

And while none of the WC GT cars are as "production" as WC says, (sort of like the way dragracers abuse the word "stock") they are at least production-based with numerous stock parts. You could buy a Vette or Porsche and make it competitive with what you have. To do the same with a stock Caddy would cost you an arm and a leg...like it did for GM.
