It pisses people off when they are singled out for no good reason. Not to mention it's just plain wrong. I know the world isn't fair, but that's not saying you shouldn't try to make things better where you can.

I agree that system seems lacking any real way to tell who's doing what, unless they are the only car on camera. I can see it being used to make BS charges, etc.

Here's hoping they keep them out of FL altogether.

I don't go out there, so I guess that's not a worry.

I remember that. I guess our local laws don't make as much sense as I assumed they did — why not have a decibel level law instead of an aftermarket law? If I have a rusted-out stock exhaust making an awful racket, that'd be legal? Seems like our laws are meant for targeting certain folks instead of setting an acceptable standard across the board...

Now, I don't see how this system could work. Unless I'm on the only car passing the intersection at any specific time, how is a video of noise with my car in it going to prove that I was the one making the noise? My Cadillac has 1400 watts in the trunk, but if I'm at a light with 15 other cars, how do they prove that it was my car bumping the bass? Same goes for my Camaro. How are they going to prove, via video in traffic, that they heard my mufflers vs. someone else's? Sounds like a system with too many holes.
There is a lot of truth in what you said. That is why there has been a lot of complaining about stop light and speed cameras. In several states the car owner gets the ticket for speeding or running a red light even if they weren’t the ones driving. People do manage to get some of the tickets thrown out after they have spent time and money fighting the ticket.

If you have an aftermarket exhaust, that is good enough reason to pull you over.

This would be good for roads such as morris bridge rd just before it turns to fletcher. There is already an electronic control device set up there now.

There are always people flying at 80 down the road adn its a 45 road.

when i had my old camaro i used to get cops called on my for it just ideling in my parking lot.

but they have to be 25 feet behind the car when they do the test. my car was around a 120,130 or so.

That sucks. Did you ever get a ticket?

So what's the point of the aftermarket law? We don't have emissions tests anymore, so that line doesn't work. If they want, people should be allowed to run chainlink fence posts as long as it doesn't stick out too far, make too much noise or pose a safety hazard.

It's a law aimed squarely at specific people, and that is illegal. Not the first time it's happened, but illegal, nonetheless.

This was an FYI thread so people would know what they have to watch out for in the future. Who knows if the Tampa area will get any of these, but other areas might so watch you’re self when traveling.
Mods: If this thread heads into one of those “It’s just not fair, we are getting picked on” threads please lock it.
