Then you shouldn't have tapped the brakes. That is clearly your fault. You should have simply moved over to the other lane. I mean seriously, the Veterans Expy. has more than enough room to move over. It is rarely ever crowded, if at all.

if you pulled it on him then you should have backed off when he got in front of you. for him to force you onto the median when he's in an eg and your in an explorer means the driver needs to learn how drive. he may have been tailgating, which you could have simply slowed down to force him to pass, but by brake checking him you threw the first punch. sounds like your driver tried to pull something and the civic just drove circles around you, the driver couldn't handle the explorer so he shouldn't have pulled that kind of shit in a vehicle that's too much for him. You may have had to swerve to avoid hitting the civic, and I can see why you say it's his fault, kinda like swerving to avoid hitting a dog, however in the eyes of the law and your insurance you were the one to strike another vehicle, or if you didn't hit any other vehicle then it's a single vehicle accident. Truthfully you should have let him hit you when he was trying to force you into the median, then it would have been his fault, otherwise you unsafely left your lane. I am glad everyones alright, but don't pull shit on the road if you can't handle the car. learn to drive before you get onto the streets, you could have seriously been hurt.

This is why I hate driving in Florida. If someone is tailgating you the correct action to take is get over into another lane as soon as safely possible or if you are in the right lane and can’t get over stay at the speed limit until the other driver passes you. By brake checking someone you are just asking for trouble and run a chance of road rage by the other driver. You can almost always expect the other driver to brake check you as soon as he gets in front of you.

You took a swing at him, he took a swing at you, you flinched and the truck is wrecked. I at least hope you learned a lesson and don’t do it again.

Dustch bag? Are you calling me German?? Dutch?? look at it from the civic's point of view. he pulled up behind a suv going slower than he wanted, maybe he thought he was far enough back, maybe he was trying to tailgate, who knows? But we do know You brake checked him, from his point of view you in a big suv, just tried to make his little compact wreck, in an suv vs. hatch the suv would win hands down. So to him you were being a jackass trying to make him wreck when all he did was tailgate you. I'd be pissed too. Then you allow him to run you out of your lane???? he's behind you, wtf? I'd have brake checked you too, and if you flipped, not only would I have not stopped to help, why should I your in a big strong suv you'll survive, I would laugh my ass off that I in my little hatch was able to make some pussy in a big suv back down when he thought he was big enough to play games on the road. Your lucky no one got hurt, you don't play games on the road, had an innocent bystander been hurt you'd feel like shit for being a partial cause to the injury.

Bottom line the driver of the explorer is the DOUCHE bag, the civic may have been a jackass for tailgating, but the explorer took the first swing, the explorer got what it deserved. If you were just an innocent passenger in the explorer, then I am sorry you were forced into the incident, I would go kick the driver in the nuts for driving irresponsibly while he has passengers. If your the driver then learn to drive properly and you won't have this problem.

Maybe it's the years I have spent on a motorcycle, but you have to drive defensively and anticipate the other driver. Know your limits, and know if you push them you can get hurt. it's not about getting back at the other driver for what stupid thing you think he did, it's about going home at the end of the day.

1. Brake checking rarely gets the other driver to back off. It usually just pisses them off and makes them do it more.

2. One of the elements of safe driving is maintaining a distance between you and the driver in front of you that will allow you to stop safely if the other drive has to slam on the brakes. This is elementary, folks.

3. Be thankful you're alive and LET IT GO. Learn from it.

paitence and not caring if he was upset or not would have avoided this accident

i have countless asshole truck and suv boi's (yes because you are the gay when you do the following) tail me on highways and on streets. when i can i move over but i don't brake check them because my car and my life are to important to me and thier lack of time estimating to get where they need to go means nothing to me.

be blessed that you all walked away and always remember an suv is top heavy and a bigger responsiblity than a car.

and also there is a reason suv's and trucks are seldom let on an autox course

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.
