whats the best way to match port your intake to your heads?i figured make my custom gasket for my heads then use that as a template to the intake and get machining dye and then grind it tell there is no more machining dye left on the intake runner side.i dont have a bare block to use to mock the stuff up.does any of u know a better way?

or is my best bet to do it the way i just said to do?

When i do heads i put the machinist dye around the ports, lay the gasket over, scribe the outline of the gasket, and then hit it with a carbide burr in a pnumatic dye grinder. I opened up the exhaust ports in a set of late 80s Ford heads in under and hour. Final shaping and getting all of them close took about another hour

FYI- gaskets are not designed for optimum air flow. They are just designed to seal. So matching the port to the gasket may not give you more flow/velocity. If you gonna match the gasket the side that is the most important is the floor. I'd research more to find out if leaving the floor alone and gasket matching the walls and ceiling is better or vice versa. Flow bench wold be your best friend in this case. -Mark

yeah i see what your saying.my heads though take a file fit gasket so i was going to make it to fit the heads perfect then transfer it to the intake side and open it up tell the intake runners where the same as the heads.
